Meet Terry

Breed: Terrier

Barking from: Taupo

What's up dog?

Terry is such a morale booster. He is spoiled rotten by everyone that comes to site - truck drivers, contractors and our team. There's something about seeing peoples faces light up as soon as they see him. They get out of their truck when they see a dog and have a big smile whilst they squat down to his level and introduce themselves.

Terry takes his job very seriously though. He arrives at work and does his pre start checks and likes to do a site inspection and inspect everything (and check for possums) before we start up. It is so amusing to watch - he really does think that he is the Quarry Manager, not his dad!

Terry is such a joy, that is why he's been awarded employee of the month so many times. He particularly likes driving the machinery and as per the photo is favourite is the ADT (Articulated Dump Truck) that is 40 tonnes and about 1,000,000 times his size. At lunchtime his colleagues like to keep him mentally fit by sharing their lunch with him, but setting up a obstacle course for him to get through before he gets his treat.

2025 NZ People's Choice Award

We believe no dog should be left behind.

Every dog entered into the competition is automatically in the running for the 2025 People’s Choice Award — and the winner will be decided by you, the public.

This year, we’re giving the aroha back to our communities.

Each year, our campaign is supported by a number of incredible charities across Aotearoa that work tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs and people alike. In 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on these organisations and the vital mahi they do.
